Your family is yearning for a holiday. Your evenings are charged with the most animated discussions about where to go and what to see, the anticipation of odysseys and adventures seems to be permeating every member of your family. You feel it yourself – all of you simply need to get out, go for a drive, organize an expedition, plan an excursion – heck, anything will do! How knows, maybe it will turn into the trip of the year, maybe even the journey of a lifetime. Well, right until the next one. But with such high expectations, how is one to start planning to not let anyone down? What things and places-to-visit should definitely make it onto the list, and in what order? In how many legs should you split the journey, and where should you plan to make your stops? And then, what about planning for and organizing all the excursions, visits, meals? But, maybe even most importantly, how can one optimize the journey in such a way as to minimize the time spent on the road? If only there was a simple (and singular) answer to such a wide array of questions, you start daydreaming… But daydreaming you need not, as such a simple (and singular) answer does exist! Fortunately! This answer can be found on the Simitless platform, in the form of an app template, geared towards helping you plan and organize your next trip.
Head over to Simitless and start laying out your ideas for this unique journey of yours, and the app template will assist you in avoiding the wrong turns, cutting the oversights down to the bare minimum, collaborating with your whole family and communicating effectively with your fellow travelers. Consult the application model, then click " Use this model" button to create your own copy of the app. To save your progress, think of creating an account by following the instructions on the green buttons! Once your application has been created from the model provided, invite whoever you want to join the application by creating a Simitless account. ( Edit application Access rights).
Now, let’s get to the contents of the app itself. But first, a word of clarification: to keep things simple, each app you create from the model provided focuses on one single trip. If you are planning multiple trips, we recommend you create multiple apps – one per trip – based on the provided model.
Now, back to the app. The app opens up on two data types.
The first data type “Step” (i.e. leg of the journey) allows you to mark the different legs of your journey on a map. Select a location by clicking on it, then use the link " Step" in the pop-up information bubble to create a record. Alternatively, you can search for an address on the map with the tool. Once the record has been created, you can give it a name, select a type of point of interest (e.g. overnight stay, food, visit, shop, personal), add a description and a link to a corresponding web page, if there is one. Once all legs of your journey have been defined, you can rearrange their order, if you wish. When you set off on your journey, the Simitless mobile platform makes it easy to open each record directly from the map of your application. Moreover, you can use the menu of the " Position" data field to start the navigation toward that step's position in your SatNav using OpenStreetMap or Google Maps.
The second data type – a checklist of items to pack – ensures that you do not forget anything. You can add items to your list at any time and then check them off once you've packed them. Simples!
